Mady Elvinger-Werner of ICE PEARL
I created now for my company « Ice Pearl » (its an Event Company for Figure Skating Galas but also Dance Events, mainly in Switzerland but with projects also in Luxembourg) the section « Ice Pearl Dance » where I focus more on the Method Barre. ICE PEARL has not yet its own studio but that’s what we are aiming for, an own dance studio in Luxembourg City and a presence also in Saas-Fee, Swiss Alps, for future Barre retreats.
I followed only last autumn, at the age of 40, teacher programs in Luxembourg for Barre, and I clearly see the benefits . I love incorporate certain movements from Barre to dance sequences off the ice.
I believe that the objective of your Alliance is to bring structure in this sport area which is not regulated at all. From my point of view it is a necessity to bring guidance, rules and objectives and also create at the same time a network, a Community.
I hope to be able to make ICE PEARL Dance compliant with the standards of the Barre Fitness Alliance and promote in the future the trainings offered by ICE PEARL Dance and the Barre retreats from ICE PEARL Dance over the network from the Barre Fitness Alliance.
Especially Barre retreats in the Swiss Alps might be interesting from an international perspective.
Ice Pearl Dance is open to anyone.
Barre Method is for all age and level.
As we have a lot of iceskaters following us the Method gets however better known in the milieu of iceskaters.
The preparational training « off the ice » for figure skaters requires very specific training sequences for jump techniques and rotation techniques. Method Barre is not targeted enough for this preparational work but can however participate to help skaters develop a better posture.
I personally have experienced progress in terms of posture and also believe that this Method can help prevent injuries. The Method can help strengthen the ankles for example with specific relevé exercises, also the knee area with lounges etc.
